AKBUK

Akbuk became an established town in 1991 and continues to develop. It used to be a small fishing town where locals would catch fresh sea bass from the Aegean sea. Most of the infrastructural work has been done and Akbuk is now rapidly growing as a tourism resort with its holiday complexes, summer houses, villas, harbor and hotels.

Many people who go to Akbuk decide to stay there after their retirement as it is still quieter than some holiday resorts such as Altinkum and Kusadassi. Although the resort of Akbuk is still quieter than these other resorts it does not mean that the area has nothing to offer. The small harbor is host to many different tours, (especially in the summer months), including cruises and fishing trips.

The small town centre has much to offer considering its size. There are many local market shops selling all the daily provisions along with a chemist, internet café, plumbers, electrical store, hairdressers and hardware store. When visiting Akbuk one attraction is the Greek chapel which is situated on the coast line and is well preserved and open to the public. Perhaps the best place for shopping in Akbuk and a recommended day out is the local market held every Friday which is fairly large and sells everything from local farmers produce to clothes and household goods.

As for nightlife in Akbuk the choices are plenty with an increasing number of small restaurants offering a range of cuisines and many bars offering different entertainment including traditional Turkish music. It is safe to say that although Akbuk might be small in size it is certainly a rural retreat with plenty to offer for the whole family to enjoy.
